Echuca Rodeo 2025 And Travla Beer Match Made in the Murray
My first impressions of Echuca is very warming. Looks like a small town but feels like home. A good place to live, work and retire in.
A lively, busy little town that is home to the Echuca Rodeo. And to Travla Beer, the major sponsor.
The weather was hot but with thick clouds covering the sun for periods of time that helped with the reduction of sunburn, though some of the crowd looked rather pink. There were some drops of rain but no more than that. Not enough to wet people and not enough to cool the air temperature.
There were some chestnuts, paints, palomino, thoroughbreds and quarter horses. All beautiful horses.
The young cow boys and cow girls were phenomenal in their heats. Their hard work paid off. Some have more work ahead of them but they showed potential and a future in this sport. The came all over Australia, from the Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and of course Victoria.
There was an injury with medics on site after one of the riders had a horse land on him hard when he fell of it as it was bucking. He needed assistance to stand but couldn’t stand on his own. Seven people carried him out on a stretcher while the crowd watched on concerned for the rider. As soon as I know, I will report on the man’s condition
Another rider had his pants half sliced off. He had to hold onto the top with one hand as he walked off.
Travla Beer had their flags around the arena and a place to buy the town’s own cold brew. Something that the locals seemed to love considering the empty Travla cans in designated can bins.
The other sponsors were paraded by riders on horses holding their flags as well as the Australian flag that led them. The entertainment factor was on point.
By the time the main event kicked off the crowd stood to listen and sing the Australian anthem to a sold out, full house.
The main even kicked off with a good star with top points. I will not pretend to even know how the points are done except for the basics where it’s at least 8 seconds to hold onto a bucking horse.
The crowd oohhed and ahhhed with the sporting prowess of the cow people performing dangerous feats for entertainment.
As the sun set on the adults in teams of two performing tasks like roping the head and feet on the steers were there to entertain. There were some flawless teams some didn’t quite meet the mark.
The paints kicked up a storm in bucking off their riders.
In the getting ready for the tri barrel racing, the ring master included the crowd in side A and side B screams and singing “hey, hey baby, I wanna know, if you’ll be my girl”. Not only entertaining through crowd but adding the “make you feel at home vibe”. Later on, the crowd sang the chorus to “Sweet Caroline” at the bequest of the ring master.
The after show entertainment was a crowd pleaser.
Even broke two records in the one day in Australian Rodeo for the ladies. Congratulations to them.
If you can, get yourself a Travla, low calories, mid and full strength available in 6 packs and cartons. I believe only available in Australia. For my international readers, save your coins and notes, book a trip and give a Travla a try. Some good stuff, Australian owned and made.
And a shout out to the everyone who put this event on, it was spectacular. I see you again next year.
