Demand Public Apology from Peter Stefanovic and Sky News for Unethical Journalism

So last week the winner of NT biggest fishing competition, 19 year old Keegan Payne was supposed to be talking about his win with Sky News journalist Peter Stefanovic however Mr. Stefanovic had other ideas. He decided to bring up the 19 year old winner's youthful wrong doings on national TV. The 19 year old sat with as much grace and restraint as possible and handled it like a pro. This would never have happened if the winner wasn’t Indigenous. Plain and simple.

And the outcry from the public for this disgraceful act has included a petition for Mr. Stefanovic and Sky News to publicly apologize to Keegan Payne. If you want to include your signature, the link is below.

Whilst it isn’t that much of a surprise that Sky News is like this, there needs to be a change. It is a power trip that the public is no longer sees as acceptable. The offense that Mr. Stefanovic asked about happened when Keegan Payne was under 18, a minor. Mr. Stefanovic should have ONLY spoke about Keegan’s win as that was the reason why he was supposed to be on it for, not to be blindsided and put on blast on national TV.

Congratulations Keegan Payne! That was an excellent and exciting experience of a lifetime! You made the Territory proud young fella. From what I’ve seen, your family is big proud of you. As a Territorian myself who has spent time in Katherine, I’m proud of you too. Enjoy your winnings.
